SET Environmental was established in 1979 as an operating division of Wheeling Disposal, a solid waste management company focused in the Chicagoland suburbs. During the early years, the company functioned primarily as a transporter for drum, bulk tanker and bulk roll-off boxes of hazardous waste to selected disposal facilities. In its first decade, the company expanded its base of expertise to include comprehensive remediation and decontamination activities.
SET acquired a branch of Servicemaster and began the Industrial Decontamination division. Building on the existing base of clients, SET was able to add the technical and chemical expertise to decontaminate high hazard tanks, silos, buildings, and storage vessels.
SET acquired our current treatment facility; a widely capable Part B permitted TSDF that offers lab pack and drum disposal, as well as compressed gas cylinder and reactives treatment and recycling.
SET acquired DSC Environmental, a specialty field services company in Dallas/ Ft. Worth, Texas. SET-Dallas services include emergency response, industrial decontamination, remediation, transportation and disposal.
SET acquired a branch of Caldwell Environmental Services in north Houston, Texas. Highlights of these service divisions include emergency response, industrial decontamination, remediation, transportation and disposal.
SET acquired a branch of Caldwell Environmental Services in Noble, Oklahoma. Highlights of these service divisions include emergency response, industrial decontamination, remediation, transportation and disposal.
SET acquired Bellon Environmental in St. Louis, MO. This location provides emergency response, industrial decontamination, remediation, transportation & disposal.
SET acquired Duke’s Earth Services Inc. (DESI Environmental Services) in Mooresville, IN. This location provides emergency response, remediation, transportation & disposal.
SET acquired Valley City Environmental Services in Grand Rapids and Portage, MI. These locations provide transportation, disposal, remediation, industrial decontamination services, and emergency response.
SET acquired Jensen Environmental Services in Muskego, WI. This location provides transportation and disposal of non-hazardous and hazardous waste, emergency response, industrial services, oil and oil filter recycling services. This division has been relocated to our new Oak Creek, WI building.
SET acquired Key Engineering Group in Milwaukee, WI. Key had provided Environmental and Civil Engineering services throughout the Midwest since 1990. This group operates as SET Engineering.
SET acquired Advanced Rescue and Safety (ARS) in Minooka, Illinois. ARS provides onsite safety professionals, standby rescue teams and customized safety training for many different industries. This group operates as SET Rescue & Safety. SET also acquired Environmental Remediation Services (ERS) in IN/OH. The ERS further enhance SET’s footprint providing customized waste management, Emergency Response, Industrial Decontamination Services, and Remediation.
SET acquired West Central Environmental Consultants, an environmental services firm providing environmental consulting, emergency spill response, industrial services and high-resolution site characterization. WCEC has locations in Montana and Minnesota. This group operates as SET Engineering.
SET acquired Safe Rescue. Safe Rescue has been providing Standby Rescue Teams, Onsite Safety, and Emergency Response Training throughout Texas and the southern region for more than 10 years. This group operates as SET Rescue & Safety.
SET acquired Foothills Environmental Inc. Foothills has been providing a full range of industrial hygiene, environmental health and safety services including Beryllium Disease Prevention Programs, hazardous decommissioning and dismantlement (D&D) projects, asbestos, lead and air monitoring since 1998.
